Foresee PHP® Preferential Hyperacuity Perimeter

The Foresee Preferential Hyperacuity Perimeter (Foresee PHP) is a visual field analyzer that is used to detect and monitor the progression of age-related macular degeneration from the intermediate, or dry stage to the choroidal neovascularization stage, or wet stage. Forsee PHP is the only device that is FDA-approved to detect and monitor age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in its earliest stages.

Foresee PHP detects age-related macular degeneration by monitoring any changes in the central area of the vision, a key component of wet AMD. During this simple non-invasive screening, a number of linear dot patterns are displayed on a screen and patients are asked to touch the screen and point to areas of distortion in the pattern with a plastic pointer. The doctor will analyze the results of the exam and be able to detect wet AMD within 15 minutes.

Regular testing with Foresee PHP is recommended for patients diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration. With monitoring and prompt treatment, permanent damage can be avoided. Upon detection of AMD, the doctor may prescribe either medication or laser surgery to treat the condition. A treatment plan will be determined based on the patient's individual condition.
